Grief comes from living in the past.
I had a conversation earlier this week about some of the things that stunt growth and change...and somewhere along the way, my friend and I both realized how staying the same causes pain. Some of the people who came up in our conversation seemed to be dead set on denying anything was wrong, deflecting, and pawning off most responsibility onto their family members.
As a consequence they were stuck replaying the same things over and over, in an endless loop of conflict they are oblivious to. I believe there is a sludge that builds up once you get stuck in this kind of loop....where you cannot move forward or change, no matter who wants to help.
It’s the kind of thing that creates entropy. What's worse is, entropy is itself an indication of future disrepair. Our minds, spirits, bodies...every part of us is vulnerable to destruction by our own hands if we leave them to rot by focusing only on the past.
There's simply no way to build a life in the past. We can tend to the present, and plan for the future, but the right now is all we can experience. And therefore, right now is all we can work with, alittle bit at a time. It's crazy what alittle unwavering focus can do...Heck, I shaved 22 minutes off my run time just by starting weekly.
